You'll also hear the music stop if you have sound on. You'll see an icon appear above the character stats when active. This song will decrease the AC of your entire party, making them harder to hit. Before entering combat, pick your bard and go to the song list, and pick Traveler's Tune. While you're fighting, some things to take note of.ġ. Bounce back and forth until you get into fights, and make sure to save often as the first couple of levels are really rough. Just walk into the North or South house and then exit, you'll be facing the other one. If you go to the far East temple on the North wall and move two squares East, you can do it here. Speaking of, such a spot exists right by the temples. The encounter rate just walking around is much lower then the chance to find enemies in houses, so doing it that way is much faster. Just go in, pick who to heal (or the whole party) and you're good to go.Īs for fighting, the ideal way to grind it out is to find two doors that face each other and just keep going into them. The temples on the North, West and South walls all can heal you, the ones along the East one serve no purpose right now. You'll end up in a big area with a ton of temples on all four sides. Continue South until you can go West, and then do so. The Review Board is used to level up, when a character has a yellow arrow by their name in the bottom window they can advance a level.

Go South from here, you'll pass by the Review Board to the East, and an Inn South of it. Continue North to the wall, then West to the wall. From the guild, head North twice and you'll find the blacksmith East of you. We'll use the money to buy better armour so we can move on. To start we want to fight enemies around the temple to level up and get money. With our party setup, we are ready to go. You get an achievement for making your first character. Strength helps for melee damage, Intelligence gives more Spell Points at level up (the mana of this game), Dexterity helps characters act earlier in combat, and Constitution helps decide how much HP a character gets when they level up. As for stats, Strength matters for the 4 front line characters, Intelligence matters for the 2 mages, and Constitution/Dexterity/HP matter for everyone. I just went with a 6 man party and made a Rogue in the third game, because the 3rd game doesn't require you to have NPCs join to do puzzles.Īnyway, my party looked like this. Lastly, you have to kill the boss in the 3rd game with a Rogue, so if you make a 7 man party without one, someone will have to sit on the bench for the 3rd game. The 2nd game also requires you have a space open so you can have NPCs join for puzzles. While you can have 7 characters, it means everyone will level up slower and you'll need the 7th slot open if you want summons. The first choice is whether you want 6 or 7 party members. After the text from the guild master, it's time to create our party.

Level characters in the bards tale password#
While I did include maps that show the path to take, there are many occasions where you have to use an item or give a password or solve a puzzle that isn't very easy to indicate with a map, so you can't use the maps alone. The bottom floor of a dungeon looks pretty much like the top, so it's very hard to give directions that aren't just jumbles of go east then north then south then west etc. Note: I should mention that unlike more modern RPGs, these games do not have expansive maps with landmarks and other things.
